Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2022 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. The handlebar stem bolt may break unexpectedly due to insufficient thread length.

Remedy

Owners may contact management at CycleVIN to confirm if their vehicle is subject to this recall. Owners are advised to not ride their Ryker motorcycle until the remedy is complete. Dealers will clean the threads of the steering column and install a new steering stem bolt, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 14, 2022. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222. BRP’s number for this recall is 2022-16.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

The Trike Handlebar May Break, and thus owners are advised not to ride the affected Ryker vehicles. A broken handlebar stem bolt can cause a sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Many recalls are not considered so severe that they do not allow the the owner to ride the motorcycle to the dealership to have the repair performed. In this case, the “DO NOT RIDE” recall order issued by BRP suggests that owners should have affected Ryker trikes towed to the dealership to ensure that the handlebar does not break while in transit to have the recall performed.
